I began with a doll that I had brought from a garage sale. I painted her with gesso and glued her to a coaster, which I then glued to a round placemat.
I then draped her in a piece of stockinette soaked in black Powertex.
Then using various pieces of fabric, doilies, lace, beads and flowers soaked in black Powertex I layered up her dress, creating texture and dimension as I went. I also gave her an updo and added some lace and a flower in her hair to give her a more princesslike appearance.
Once the Powertex was dry I drybrushed her with various mica powders in pinks and golds and bronze mixed with gel medium until I was happy with the results. The photos do not do justice to the gorgeous shimmer.
I really like the way this project has come together and I am really liking the Powertex. I hope you feel inspired to join in the challenge at Southern Girls. We welcome all types of projects not just cards. If you feel the need for more inspiration check out what the other Design Team members have made and then enter your project. Happy crafting.
